FAFSA for Seniors
The 2026–27 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) open October 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027 at studentaid.gov. Seniors planning to attend college, career school, or trade school should complete the FAFSA to be considered for financial aid.
Seniors should complete the FAFSA as early as possible to be considered for federal, state, and college financial aid. The federal deadline is June 30, 2027, but colleges and states may have earlier deadlines, so don't wait!
The FAFSA can be used to determine eligibility for:
Federal and state grants, including the Pell Grant
College and university scholarships and grants
Federal work-study opportunities
Federal student loans
Many colleges and states also use FAFSA information when determining their own financial aid awards, so completing the application can be an important step in planning for college costs.
