Parent Training Week:
August 10-11 8:30-2:30pm: IEW Writing Training for all Parents NEW to 3-8th Grade. 6-8th Grade Students asked to attend w/ parent. If you have attended prior a LCA IEW training prior you do not need to attend.
August 12 8:30-11:30am: Big Ideas Math Training Parents NEW to 6-12th Grade. Parents will be notified if needed to attend. 12:00-2:00pm: Early Literacy Training for Parents NEW to TK-2nd Grade. 2:00-3:00pm Handwriting Without Tears for Parents NEW to TK-2nd Grade.
August 13 8:30-1:30pm: Parent University Day 1 ft. Billy Hutchinson for ALL Co-Teachers. 6:00-8:00pm Parent University Evening Keynote for ALL Parents/Guardians.

Join us for Legacy Christian Academy’s annual Parent University Conference Evening Keynote. This event is ideal for parents, educators, church and youth leaders.
Billy Hutchinson, M.Div. (Christian Apologetics), serves as Director of Colson Educators at the Colson Center. Prior to joining the Colson Center, he spent more than a decade in Christian education, serving as both a classroom teacher and administrator, focusing on academic excellence, digital education, and the intentional formation of a Christian worldview in both educators and students. He is passionate about equipping others to engage the culture thoughtfully and faithfully for Christ. He and his family reside in Huntsville, Alabama.
Attendance is required for Both LCA Parent/Guardians and Faculty. Parent U is free and *Mandatory attendance for Co-teaching parent(s) and faculty Thursday/Friday.

January 25, 2027: Dr. Kathy Koch (pronounced “cook”) is a renowned speaker, author, researcher, and founder of Celebrate Kids, Inc., whose life’s work is shaped by strong family relationships, wise adult mentors, intentional encouragement, and a deep confidence in God’s design. As a self-described “too-tall, chatty Kathy” who didn’t spell well, Kathy grew up surrounded by parents and other adults who helped her recognize her strengths, patiently work on her weaknesses, develop resilience, and grow into a confident learner. Those early experiences formed her conviction that people thrive when they are known well, guided wisely, encouraged intentionally, and celebrated faithfully the way Jesus did and still does.
Dr. Kathy holds a PhD in reading and cognition and brings decades of educational research, classroom experience, leadership training, and ministry application to her work. She is the author of nine books, eight with Moody Publishers. She is a consistent podcaster and a trusted voice in conversations around identity, development, communication, learning, and faith. She is a frequent guest on Focus on the Family, has appeared on the Culture Apothecary podcast with Alex Clark, and regularly contributes to national discussions on raising confident, resilient, Christ-centered kids and adults.
What sets Dr. Kathy apart is her ability to connect with audiences. Whether she is speaking to parents, educators, pastors, counselors, or organizational leaders, people consistently say they feel seen, known, and understood. Her teaching helps audiences grasp the life-giving truth that everyone is smart, that God meets every person’s core needs, and that growth happens best within healthy relationships. She explains complex ideas with clarity, warmth, research-based insight, and contagious joy.
Dr. Kathy is also widely known for her unique teaching on MindStyles®, which equips leaders in churches, schools, businesses, families, and ministries to understand why people think, feel, communicate, and work the way they do. This framework strengthens leadership, improves communication, increases engagement, deepens empathy, and fosters collaboration across differences.
She has spoken for AACC, CareNet, The Colson Center, Summit Ministries, Impact 360, Youth Leadership Summit, and countless homeschool and private-school gatherings. Through every book, podcast, training, and keynote, Dr. Kathy’s mission remains clear: to help people celebrate the many smarts God has placed in others, steward their influence well, and make God’s name great in the world.
